Systems Administrator

Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and driven Systems Administrator with a strong background in VMware, Veeam, and SAN storage technologies. This position involves managing and optimizing virtualized systems, ensuring robust backup and disaster recovery processes, and maintaining efficient storage infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach to problem-solving, technical expertise, and the ability to work effectively with cross-departmental teams.
Primary Responsibilities:
Virtualization Management (VMware):
- Administer and optimize VMware vSphere environments.
- Monitor virtual machines (VMs) to ensure performance and appropriate resource allocation.
- Diagnose and resolve virtualization issues.
- Plan and implement system updates, patches, and migrations for VMware platforms.
Data Backup and Recovery (Veeam):
- Design and maintain backup processes using Veeam Backup & Replication.
- Oversee and verify the integrity and readiness of backups.
- Conduct regular disaster recovery tests to validate restore capabilities.
- Address and resolve backup and restoration challenges as they arise.
Storage Area Network (SAN) Administration:
- Set up, maintain, and monitor SAN storage systems to deliver high performance and availability.
- Manage storage resources to meet operational and application demands.
- Identify and resolve storage-related issues proactively.
- Work with vendors to coordinate upgrades, support, and troubleshooting efforts.
General Systems Support:
- Oversee and ensure system performance, capacity, and uptime.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, and guidelines.
- Provide technical assistance and advice to internal teams.
- Research and recommend emerging technologies to enhance infrastructure.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
- Demonstrated experience as a Systems Administrator or in a comparable position.
- Proficiency in VMware technologies such as vSphere and ESXi.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Veeam Backup & Replication.
- In-depth knowledge of SAN storage systems, including setup and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with both Linux and Windows server environments.
- Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Strong communication and technical documentation skills.
Preferred Skills and Certifications:
- Relevant certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE), or similar credentials.
- Experience with hybrid or cloud computing environments.
- Knowledge of scripting languages like PowerShell for automation purposes.
